NPP insists Rajapaksa’s money will be found

Colombo, April 30 (Daily Mirror) - The National People's Power (NPP) yesterday reiterated that the government is conducting investigations into the money allegedly hidden in foreign countries by leaders during previous governments with the support of those particular countries.

Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a news conference that the government is expecting to reveal all the details regarding the individuals, amount and the countries where the money was hidden after the investigations.

He said foreign countries are assisting the government in conducting those investigations as never before.

“The foreign countries are supporting the government in conducting investigations. No country supported previous governments to conduct investigations. They do help us this time. We managed to repatriate a number of underworld figures because of this support,’ he said.

He said this responding to a question about the alleged hidden money in countries such as Uganda and the progress of the investigations.

“We are investigating into fraud and corruption committed by leaders during previous regimes. We believe that money earned through various frauds and corruption activities may be amassed in various countries".
