Colombo, May 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a proposal to award the contract for ground handling services for SriLankan Airlines at Sydney Airport in Australia. This decision follows the expiration of the previous service agreement on April 30, 2026.

To ensure uninterrupted service, a limited international competitive bidding process was initiated to select a suitable contractor. Three bids were received and evaluated as part of this procurement procedure. Following a thorough review, the Standing Procurement Committee recommended Menzies Aviation (Australia) Pty Ltd. as the lowest responsive bidder meeting the necessary requirements.

The proposal, submitted by the Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, grants Menzies Aviation a three-year contract effective from May 1, 2026.

The total value of the agreement is estimated at 8.32 million Australian Dollars.
