Many politicians go all-out for elections, forgetting national security: MR

Former President and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa today told reporters that many Sri Lankan politicians put all their energy into winning elections, while forgetting national security.

“These banned organisations could have been banned earlier. What has happened today is politicians put all their focus into elections. They shouldn’t be disregarding national security,” he told the reporters while leaving the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, after attending religious ceremonies to remember the victims of the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

“People cannot even go out to buy groceries. What the government should do now is not ask people to stay at home, but ensure the safety of the country and restore normalcy,” he added.
