Man shot at, hacked to death in Ambalantota, revenge suspected

Colombo, May 12 (Daily Mirror)-The Ambalantota Police have launched an investigation following a brutal homicide committed last night.

Police said the man was shot at and subsequently attacked with a sharp weapon inside a house in the Mamadala area.

The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old resident of Mamadala. During the violent encounter, a relative of the deceased also sustained injuries from the sharp weapon and has been admitted to the Hambantota Hospital for medical treatment.

After the murder was committed, it is further reported that the victim's head was severed from the body and left on a statue located at the Mamadala junction.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the killing was an act of revenge related to a triple homicide that had previously been committed involving the victim's party. 
Police have already identified three suspects linked to the crime, and the Ambalantota Police are conducting further operations to arrest them.
