Man dies due to AC machine blast in Kandy

A 23-year-old person died on Tuesday (4) following an Air Condition (AC) machine blast in a hotel in Second Rajasinhe Mawatha in Kandy, police said.

They said the victim was a technician and a resident from the Warakamura area in Matale.

The blast occurred in the hotel near the Gatambe railway crossing following leakage of a copper line while the AC was being repaired, the police said.

The body of the victim was severely burnt and taken to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for the postmortem.

The police are conducting further investigations. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
