Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu arrives in Sri Lanka

Colombo, May 3 (Daily Mirror) - Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this afternoon, marking the commencement of a high-profile state visit to Sri Lanka.

The Maldivian leader was accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed and a high-level delegation of 20 senior government officials. The group arrived from Malé via SriLankan Airlines flight UL 116.

This visit holds significant diplomatic weight as it is President Muizzu's first official trip to Sri Lanka since he assumed the presidency in 2023.

President Muizzu is visiting at the formal invitation of Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The Maldivian President and his delegation are scheduled to remain in the country until May 6. 
The visiting delegation was warmly received at the Katunayake airport by a ministerial group led by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
