Maithripala faction appoints Wijeyadasa as SLFP Acting Chairman

Colombo, April 21 (Daily Mirror)- Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe was appointed as the Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) by the Maithripala Sirisena faction.

The appointment was made during an executive committee meeting held at a hotel in Kotte with the participation of former President Maithripala Sirisena.

Minister of Ports, Aviation and Shipping Nimal Siripala de Silva was earlier appointed as Acting Chairman of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) at a SLFP politburo meeting under the chairmanship of former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga.

The Colombo District Court issued an interim injunction, barring former President Maithripala Sirisena from functioning as SLFP Chairman.
