Colombo, May 11 (Daily Mirror) -The Meteorology Department says the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka is likely to develop into a low-pressure area within the next 36 hours, with prevailing showery conditions expected to continue over the next few days.

According to the weather forecast issued at 5.30 a.m. today (11), showers or thundershowers will occur at times in most parts of the island, while cloudy skies are also expected under the influence of the system.

Heavy rainfall of around 100 mm is likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva, Southern, North-Western, Northern and North-Central provinces, as well as in the Trincomalee District.

The general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
