Colombo, August 25 (Daily Mirror) - The National Transport Commission (NTC) announced that long-distance bus services operated by the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) and the private sector will run under a joint timetable starting from midnight today.
According to the NTC, the new schedule will be introduced on several major routes including Colombo-Chilaw, Colombo - Puttalam, Colombo - Anamaduwa, Colombo - Eluwankulam, and Colombo - Kalpitiya. It will also apply to services on the Negombo - Kalpitiya, Colombo - Mannar, Colombo - Thalaimannar, Colombo-Kuliyapitiya, Colombo - Nikaweratiya, Colombo - Anuradhapura, Colombo - Vavuniya, Colombo - Kilinochchi, Colombo - Jaffna, Colombo - Kankesanthurai, Colombo - Karainagar, and Colombo - Thunnukkai routes.
All buses will begin their journeys from the private bus yard on Bastion Road in Colombo at midnight. Drivers will be given a designated rest stop after four and a half hours of travel.
The NTC further said that inspections will be carried out to ensure passengers are provided with hygienic food facilities at approved restaurants along the way.
