The nationwide lockdown which is currently in place,  including the quarantine curfew and travel restrictions, will be effective only if the community behaves responsibly, Head of the Public Health Inspectors' (PHI) Union Upul Rohana said.

He requested the people to behave responsibly to minimise deaths and cause damage to lives due to COVID infections.

He also requested people to remain indoors and never step out unless for emergencies and essential needs.

If people do not behave responsibly, the results of the imposed quarantine curfew and travel restrictions cannot be achieved, Mr. Rohana said.

He requested the public not to exploit the  permission granted to them to step out of their homes during the lockdown. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
