Local research finds Sinopharm gives protection against Delta variant

A research carried out by a group of local scientists have fundamentally found out that the Chinese Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine provides adequate protection against the dreaded Indian variant known as Delta, State Minister Channa Jayasumana said today.

He told media that further findings of the research would be conveyed to the general public within this week.

“This will be an extremely happy news for the recipients of the Sinopharm vaccine,” the State Minister added.

Meanwhile, he said the Asian Development Bank is to extend its support to Sri Lanka in granting concessionary loans to procure COVID-19 vaccines in future. (Sheain Fernandopulle)
