Colombo, May 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has issued landslide early warnings for eleven districts across the country, valid until 9.00 a.m. tomorrow (14), as adverse weather conditions continue to affect several regions.
According to the DMC, yellow-level warnings have been issued for parts of Badulla, Galle, Kalutara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Matale, Matara, Monaragala, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura districts.
Meanwhile, amber-level alerts have been declared for selected areas in Badulla, Galle, Kalutara, Kandy and Ratnapura, where the risk of landslides is considered higher.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain alert and watch for early warning signs, including cracks appearing in walls or ground surfaces, sudden water seepage, and tilting trees or electricity poles.
The DMC further advised the public to strictly adhere to instructions issued by local authorities and to evacuate to safer locations if conditions worsen.
