Korea offers financial assistance to Sri Lankan who died in Seoul stampede

The Government of Korea has decided to provide financial assistance for the family of late 27-year-old Mohammad Jinath who died from a stampede in Itaewon, Seoul and for his funeral purposes.

Ambassador of Korea Santhush Woojin Jeong has conveyed to Prime Minister Dinresh Gunawardena heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Government and the people of Korea to the bereaved family of Jinath of Udathalawinna, Kandy who died from the stampede on October 29.

The Ambassador called on Prime Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday to convey the condolences on behalf of his government.  

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena also conveyed his sympathies on behalf of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka for the losses of 156 lives including 26 foreigners and for those who injured I n the stampede during Halloween celebrations.
