Inflation could go down if diesel prices lowered: Gemunu

Lanka Private Bus Owners Association President Gemunu Wijeratne said that everything from public transport depends on diesel and the inflation rate which is now at 70% could be brought down if diesel prices are reduced.

He said there’s no relief to the people in reducing the prices of petrol. "The price of fish, vegetables and other essential items depend on the cost of diesel. Therefore this is a wrong and unfortunate decision.

If the diesel prices are reduced we could have revised bus fares," he said.
