Following the recovery of heroin stuffed inside a doll which was to be dispatched to Anuradhapura by an infamous drug dealer named "Kudu Noni" from Slave Island, the police revealed that various methods were being used by drugs traffickers to transport narcotic substances from Colombo to various parts of the country.
Police Spokesman SDIG Ajith Rohana said that the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) recovered the doll with heroin inside when it was preparing to be sent to the Anuradhapura area through a courier service.
The PNB then raided a house of Kudu Noni at Kaduwela and recovered another 56 grams of heroin.
The Police also arrested the person who was supposed to receive the drug parcel. Both suspects were produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate and detained for 7 days for further questioning.
The spokesman said that there is a tendency of the transporting mode of narcotic substances and the police are conducting continuous surveillance operations to apprehend the suspects.(Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
