Health services declared as Essential Public Service

An Extraordinary Gazette has been issued making all service connected to the maintenance and reception, care, feeding and treatment of patients in hospitals, nursing homes, dispensaries and other similar institutions, as an Essential Public Service.

The gazette notification has been issued by President Ranil Wickremesinghe by virtue of the powers vested in him in terms of Section 2 of the Essential Public Services Act.
