Govt. to procure 2000 ’Tuks’ for Police

Cabinet approval was granted to purchase 2,000 three-wheelers as a prompt solution for the Sri Lanka Police Division, after a proposal tabled by the Public Security Minister.

The decision was announced at the weekly cabinet briefing at the Information Department today.

The decision to purchase these vehicles was taken considering the police department being the main institute responsible for law enforcement and endeavour to maintain peace throughout the country.

The Minister said due to inadequate number of vehicles in the police department, they are finding it hard to perform their accredited duties.
