Govt. to amend Criminal Procedure Code

The Government is expected to amend the Criminal Procedure Code to dispel concerns by the European Union when it comes to regaining the GSP plus trade facility for Sri Lanka.

The benefits for the apparel sector from this facility is said to be in the region of about Rs.1 billion. The National Co-ordination Committee on Re-admission has been mandated to work on the process.

Further discussions are to be held with Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera. (Kelum Bandara)
