Government to introduce two bills on gender equality, women’s empowerment

Colombo, March 08 (Daily Mirror)- Two new legislations which ensure women’s rights and economic empowerment were announced by the government today as the country marked the International Women’s Day with the rest of the world.  

Addressing the International Women’s Day celebration today, President Ranil Wickremesinghe announced that two bills focusing on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment will be introduced to Parliament in May. 

The Women's Empowerment Act was officially gazetted yesterday and the Gender Equality Act is set to be gazetted next week.
