Colombo, Jan. 16 (Daily Mirror) - The government will move swiftly to ensure justice for Grade 6 students impacted by the postponement of education reforms, Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said today.
Dr. Amarasuriya said education was identified as a key sector requiring transformative change when the government assumed office, noting that such reforms may face resistance from a small minority.
She made these remarks while addressing education officials and school principals of the Chilaw Education Zone at a meeting held at the SEDEC Auditorium in Madampe, where the future direction of education reforms was outlined.
She stressed, however, that all new education reforms would be implemented within a child protection policy framework.
She also noted that the highest-ever budget allocation for vocational education has been made under the reforms, adding that several initiatives are already underway to reduce digital inequality and address infrastructure gaps in schools nationwide.
