Former President Sirisena departs for US

Feb 12 - Former President Maithripala Sirisena left for the United States via India this morning on a special visit.

Sirisena's itinerary included a stop in New Delhi, India, where he boarded the AI-284 flight operated by Indian Airlines at 02:50 am today. From New Delhi, he will proceed to New York, USA, on another connecting flight.

Accompanying Sirisena are two officials from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, as disclosed by party sources.
