Five foreign women among 8 arrested at brothel in Dehiwala

Seven females including five foreign women have been arrested when the police raided a brothel at Hill Street in Dehiwala last night.

Police said the raid was carried out on a tip-off and they had arrested a man for operating the brothel.

The arrested male suspect is a 43 year old resident of Colombo 08 while the local female suspects aged 23 and 39 are identified as residents of Panadura and Wellawatte.

It was reported that the five foreign women did not have a valid visa to stay in Sri Lanka at the time of their arrest.

It has been revealed that advertisements of the brothel had been published on social networking sites.

Telephone numbers to the brothel were mentioned in the advertisements.

The suspects will be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court today.(DSB)
