Colombo, June 23 – The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) announced today that five SriLankan Airlines flights have been diverted to alternative airports in Muscat (Oman), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), and Dubai due to the escalating situation in the Middle East.

In light of the ongoing developments, Sri Lanka’s two main international airports—Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA)—have been placed on standby to accommodate any civil airline requests for emergency landings, particularly in response to the current situation unfolding in Qatar.

The CAASL said it is closely monitoring the developments and coordinating with international aviation authorities to ensure the safety of passengers and aircraft.
