Colombo, June 13 (Daily Mirror) - In a historic first for Sri Lanka, the Orthodox Traditional Christian Church held a bishop consecration ceremony in the country today at St. Peter's Cathedral in Kandana.

During the ceremony, Rev. Kalyanapriya was ordained as a bishop, while a total of four clergy members—one Sri Lankan priest and three priests from Nepal—were consecrated as bishops.

The ordination was conducted with the participation of six foreign bishops representing the Orthodox Traditional Christian tradition, underscoring the international significance of the event.

A large number of devotees attended the ceremony together with foreign clergy and overseas nationals. Church representatives noted that this was the first time such a bishop ordination ceremony of the Orthodox Traditional Christian Church had been held in Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone for the country's Christian community.
