Excise Amendment Bill presented to Parliament

The Excise Amendment Bill, under which rules would be made to obtain a license when tapping coconut and palmyrah trees, was presented to Parliament today.

Under the section 15 of the Bill, a license has to be obtained to tap coconut and palmyrah trees. No license is needed to tap Kithul trees according to the legislation. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)
