Death of girl: Bathiudeen’s wife, father-in-law, brother-in-law detained

The Colombo Magistrate's Court today allowed the police to detain four persons including the wife, father-in-law and brother-in-law of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen till Monday in connection with the death of a 16-year-old domestic aide at the former minister's house.

The 46-year-old Sheyabdeen Ayesha, her 70-year-old father Mohammed Sheyabdeen and the agent who brought the girl to Bathiudeen's house were arrested yesterday in connection with the girl's death.

In addition, 44-year old Sheyabdeen Ismadeen, the brother-in-law of former minister was arrested for sexual harassment on the 22-year-old woman who worked as domestic helper at the former minister's house earlier.
