One year after the 52-day political crisis, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today said that the country has a responsibility to protect the democracy that was protected through the 19th Amendment.

“Today I look back on the day that democracy in Sri Lanka faced its biggest threat. I thank everybody who fought to save their country from anarchy. It was not my fight but our fight and together we prevailed.”
