Colombo, June 13 (Daily Mirror) - The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) has conducted a raid on a supermarket operated by a Chinese company in the Kollupitiya area, which is alleged to have sold goods in violation of Sri Lanka’s consumer protection laws.

According to officials, several products on display did not carry mandatory information such as manufacturing dates, expiry dates, or details of the distributor. Authorities also noted that proper language was not used to communicate product contents to consumers.

During the inspection, it was further observed that some food items labelled as Chinese products were reportedly being produced and sold by Sri Lankan individuals.

The CAA said legal action is being pursued and the case is scheduled to be taken up before the Maligakanda Magistrate’s Court. Further investigations are continuing into the matter.
