Cabinet clears major contracts to upgrade Southern highway corridor

Colombo, May 5 (Daily Mirror) - The Cabinet of Ministers has approved two major contracts under the National Highways Widening and Improvement Programme to rehabilitate key sections of the Colombo–Galle–Hambantota–Wellawaya (A002) Road, aimed at strengthening connectivity along the southern corridor.

The award follows a competitive bidding process that attracted four submissions, with the High-Level Procurement Committee recommending the substantially responsive lowest bidder.

A contract valued at Rs. 1,207.74 million has been awarded to MS RR Construction (Pvt) Ltd to rehabilitate and upgrade a 13.3-kilometre stretch between Kamburugamuwa and Dewinuwara.
