CID arrests captain of X-Press Pearl vessel

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today arrested the Captain of the MV X-Press Pearl which caught fire near the Colombo harbor, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

He said the captain who is a Russian national would be produced before the Colombo High Court.

The CID earlier recorded statement from the captain and several others including the Chief Engineer of the vessel over the incident. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
