CEB to purchase electricity from private power plants: Minister

The Ministry of Power has decided to purchase electricity from private power plants for a short period of time.

Minister Gamini Lokuge said that a proposal in this regard will be submitted to the Cabinet tomorrow.

He said steps are also being taken to purchase fuel for Ceylon Electricity Board directly from the Indian Oil Company (IOC).
