April 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Australian High Commission in Colombo said that it is aware of irregularities related to payments owed to the Australian Government, according to a statement posted on X.
The High Commission said that Sri Lankan authorities are currently investigating the matter and are working in coordination with Australian officials, who are assisting with the probe.
The statement further said that Australia remains committed to supporting Sri Lanka’s return to debt sustainability as the inquiries continue.
Sri Lanka's Finance Ministry has said that the computer system of the External Resources Department has been hacked by cyber hackers who gained unauthorised access and carried out a theft involving a foreign currency payment.
The Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development on Wednesday said it has already lodged complaints with law enforcement agencies and other relevant institutions regarding the theft.
