Due to the extension of the existing quarantine curfew, the postal department has decided to open all post and sub post offices in the country only four days per week.
The existing quarantine curfew has been extended until 4.00 am on Sept. 21.
Post Master General (PMG) Ranjith Ariyaratne said the decision was taken due to its workers are finding it difficult to report to work due to the unavailability of public transport.
Meanwhile, certain families of the employees who have been infected with the COVID virus have welcomed the decision.
Accordingly, following an agreement with the media minister and his secretary, the decision was taken to close all post and sub post offices on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Moreover, PMG Ariyaratne said arrangements have been made to pay the allowance to the elderly on August 17 and 18 through the Post and Sub Post Offices. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
