Colombo, May 7 (Daily Mirror) - Development work on several agricultural roads in the Puttalam District has commenced under the Smallholder Agribusiness Partnerships Programme (SARP), with projects launched in the Anamaduwa, Pallama and Nawagattegama Divisional Secretariat divisions under the patronage of State Minister Professor Chandana Abayarathne.
The projects include the reconstruction of the Maha Kuratihena Tank feeder road in Anamaduwa at a cost of over Rs. 1.8 million, the development of the Wathupola Tank–Thorawatana Tank agricultural road in Pallama costing Rs. 4.3 million, and the commencement of the Weeragaswewa feeder road project in Nawagattegama.
The programme, funded by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), is aimed at improving transport access for farming communities across the district, with several additional feeder roads also scheduled for development.
