Adverse weather claims one, scores affected: DMC

A death was reported and 908 people were affected due to gutsy winds and heavy rain prevalent in the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

While issuing a situation report for today, they said 207 families in the Western Province (WP), Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Northern Province have been affected.

The death was reported from Kopay in Jaffna due to lightening, they said. 

Four people were injured in Attanagalla in Gampaha and in Waduraba in Galle due to gale, the DMC said.

A house was completely damaged in Wanduraba in Galle, while 204 houses suffered partial damage in Colombo, Gampaha, Ratnapura, Galle and Hambantota districts, it added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
