7,587 non-recipients of at least one vaccine died so far from COVID: GMOA

The 7,587 people who had died due to COVID epidemic up to today hadn't received at least one dose of vaccine, which is 80.7% of all deaths, the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) Secretary Dr. Shenal Fernando said.

He said among those who received both the doses of vaccine, only 388 deaths were reported which is about 4.1% of the total deaths.

The importance of vaccination is clear to anyone who studies this simple data, he said.

Therefore, if your parents, elders or relatives who are above the age of 60 and haven't been vaccinated as yet, encourage them to get the COVID vaccine at their earliest, Dr. Fernando stressed. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
