3000 evade taxes: Commissioner

Action against 3000 cases of tax evasion had been taken during the first quarter of the year, Commissioner General of Sri Lanka Inland Revenue (SLIR) Mallika Samarasekara said.

“About 118 seizer notices, 20 court cases and about 3,500 other actions such as issuing red notices were taken,” she said.

She said the number of actions taken by the Inland Revenue Department was more than last year.

The Inland Revenue had collected Rs. 100 mn from the taxes so far, she said. (Chaturanga Pradeep)
