155 drivers charged for traffic offences on E01

Legal action has been taken against 155 drivers who violated traffic regulations applicable to the Southern Expressway for the last 15 days after the opening of the highway for traffic.

Police said the drivers concerned were charged for excessive speed, causing accident due to reckless driving and violating other traffic regulations.

The Traffic Division is carrying on continuous checks on the instructions of Director Eric Perera to ensure safe driving and to prevent accidents on the expressway. (K. Buddhika Kumarasiri)
