Colombo, October 3 (Daily Mirror) - Refuting allegations by former MP Wimal Weerawansa, the National People's Power (NPP) said that the NPP has no political connection with recently arrested "Puwakdandawe Sana" as claimed by Weerawansa.
Deputy Minister Ruwan Senarath told the media that Weerawansa claimed the President had meals at the so called person's house when the President visited the South recently.
He said the President or any NPP leader had not visited that persons house or had meals as claimed by Weerawansa and added that the NPP will take legal action against Weerawansa for making misleading and false statements.
"It is a serious statement. The NPP has no connections with "Puwakdandawe Sana". Neither the President nor any other NPP leader had visited his house. We request the CID to arrest Weerawansa and conduct an investigation regarding his statement," he said.
The Deputy Minister said some people are trying to make such statements to divert the allegations levelled against the Rajapaksas.
