Govt. dental surgeons to launch island-wide strike

Colombo, Oct. 24 (Daily Mirror) - The Government Dental Surgeons’ Association (GDSA) has announced an island-wide token strike on November 6, 2025, in protest over what it describes as the “ongoing administrative collapse” within the Dental Services Division of the Health Ministry.

In a statement, the GDSA said the decision was unanimously approved by its Executive Committee following 18 months of unsuccessful attempts to resolve serious administrative issues through official channels.

The association noted that despite continuous discussions with the Health Minister and ministry officials, no meaningful action had been taken to address their concerns.

According to the GDSA, several key matters essential to the smooth functioning of the government dental service have remained unresolved for over a year. It added that although preparatory work had been completed by the association and relevant officials, all progress had stalled due to persistent administrative inaction.
