Colombo, January (Daily Mirror) - A Colombo Crimes Division officer today requested the Chief Magistrate to issue an order referring the 15th suspect, Ishara Sewwandi, to a forensic examiner for a facial examination.
However, the Magistrate rejected the request, stating that the court cannot issue orders concerning a suspect who had not been produced before it, as Ishara Sewwandi was still in detention.
Today, the Colombo Crimes Court also produced two suspects accused of aiding and abetting the murder of Ganemulla’s Sanjeewa. The 34th suspect was reportedly involved in helping the 39th suspect escape from Sri Lanka to India.
The suspects, Nandikumara Thakshi and Ajith Kumara, alleged to have helped Ishara Sewwandi flee to India, were remanded until January 9 by Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama.
Considering the circumstances, the Magistrate ordered the investigating officers to submit a progress report on the ongoing investigations against the suspects to the court.
