Elekrateq Joins USAID in Driving E-Mobility Initiatives
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka – In an exciting development for sustainable transportation in Sri Lanka, Elekrateq, a subsidiary of Vega Innovation and a leading manufacturer of electric vehicles, has teamed up with USAID through a social media influencer-led campaign to promote sustainable tourism and e-mobility in Sri Lanka.
The initiative, led by USAID Indo Pacific Opportunity Project (IPOP), with the Sri Lanka Tourism Alliance, engaged 10 social media influencers, including travel enthusiasts and sustainability advocates, to experience the charm of Sri Lanka. As part of their itinerary, in coordination with the USAID Sri Lanka Energy Program, the influencers embarked on a Colombo city tour on ETX three wheelers, a compact electric urban mobility solution designed by Elektrateq. The city tour, which took place on Monday, September 25th, 2023, served as an opportunity for the influencers to visit key sites, including the Galle Face Hotel, Colombo Fort, The Dutch Hospital, Slave Island, and Independence Square. The experience also served as a real-world demonstration of the environmental and economic advantages of electric vehicles to eco-conscious travelers, and showcased the potential of e-mobility to transform transportation in Sri Lanka.
The campaign aligns with broader sustainability goals and tourism development in Sri Lanka, including the country's commitment to reducing carbon emissions. With the support of influencers and the commitment of various stakeholders, the initiative is poised to raise awareness and drive the adoption of electric vehicles, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future in Sri Lanka's transportation sector.
Looking ahead, Elekrateq aims to plan out mass production by the first quarter of 2024, ushering in a new era of sustainable transportation. For more information, visit: https://elektrateq.com
