A heavyweight of the Telephone party who had been carrying on a selfcentered lonely campaign disregarding party discipline in the recent past has now decided to behave himself, they say.
He has resolved to bridle his tongue and stop all political antics realizing that he had antagonized the party leadership and a large section of the party membership to such an extent he is now on the verge of losing his high post and all other political prospects.
In fact, the party had recently decided to take deterrent action against him mainly for announcing on his own that he would run for Number One office and also criticizing the party in public.
This heavyweight, who now seems to have turned a new leaf, has also decided to work for the party’s advancement with dedication and take a very keen in all party activity including participating in media briefings, they say.
Nevertheless, many party members are said to be skeptical that his good behavior will last long and they believe that he is only biding his time!

Sarath Fonseka is indeed a real heavyweight, as her article says, who should not impose party political restraint on himself, or allow party people to impose it!!! In my opinion, he is one of the extremely rare politicians in Sri Lanka, and especially from the SJB, who has all the presidential skills to lead the country into a better future! All of the candidates mentioned so far: Anura Kumara, Premadasa and most recently Ranil do not have anywhere near the human and political stature to accompany and lead such an office and to carry out the decisive radical steps of political change!
