Quite recently the Pohottuwa chief secretarial one met a Diyawanna member of that party from the Galle district at the council canteen.
This Pohottuwa member no longer in the party has reportedly got close to the Telephone party.
Highly worried about the recent judgment sealing the fate of Diyawanna members crossing over to another political party, the Pohottuwa Diyawanna member had asked from the party’s secretarial one whether they were going to expel the members who had defected.
“Yes,” the secretarial one had replied. “It is the party’s decision not mine. I have to implement the decisions taken by the party…!”
At this stage, the Pohottuwa leader had walked in there, and the Galle district Diyawanna member had immediately gone up to the Pohottuwa leader and addressed him, “ Sir, has the party delegated powers to the secretarial one to expel me…?
That is what he was just telling me…!”
The Pohottuwa leader who had guffawed had replied: “ The secretarial one has now been empowered to expel party’s Diyawanna members shifting to other parties. So he will pursue necessary action to expel all party defectors…!”
Thereafter, the crestfallen Galle district Diyawanna member quietly walked away, they say.
