The recent ban on betel chewing within the Diyawanna precincts has placed several betel chewing politicos in an uncomfortable situation, they say.
“Now we can’t have a chew. What are we to do about this?” one Diyawanna politico addicted to the chew had asked a colleague known to be in his own boat.
“What to do now, Machang! Let us ask for some chewing gum from our Lokka!” the colleague from Wayamba had joked.
There are several Diyawanna politicos hooked on the betel chew, they say.
