Bairaha Farms PLC completed yet another worthy CSR project by distributing dry food rations to the community of Ellalamulla village, in the Gampaha District.
Ellalamulla village is home to the Bairaha processing factory and the initiative is aimed at helping the village community to provide with part of their basic food requirements. The distribution of 400 food ration parcels took place at the Ellalamulla temple with the participation of the Chief Priest, villagers of Ellalamulla, as well as senior management and staff of Bairaha Farms PLC.
Another 380 food ration parcels were distributed through the local mosque of the area. At a time of economic crisis and food insecurity, the Ellalamulla community was benefited greatly by receiving essential food ration items. The senior management of Bairaha Farms PLC said that contributing to society and fellow Sri Lankan citizens is a core principle of the company’s corporate culture and this is reflected in the CSR projects. Ellalamulla village is home to a low-income and vulnerable community that faces many challenges in meeting their basic food needs during this economic crisis.
“The community is close to our heart as our processing factory is located there, along with many of our valued employees. We firmly believe in giving back to such communities and as responsible corporate entity, we are happy to rise to the occasion and alleviate their hardship,” the senior management team said.
