There is a big demand for granite creations at present in the island. And it is growing day by day. All are aware of the long life of stone. In our country foreigners view more creations made of granite than of metal.

The founder of the Stargraha establishment H. Cyril Wickremasinghe drawing upon the knowledge he had gathered while studying at the Sri Lanka Technical College, through training obtained from countries like, India and Russia and the experience obtained at the Sri Lanka Steel Corporation was able to successfully establish  this establishment specialising in granite statues and monuments. He started the establishment by engaging three employees but was able to increase his work force to around  three- hundred- and- fifty employees through his own perseverance and the goodwill of Stargraha.

Using his deep knowledge, Wickremasinghe was able to  create the 80- foot statue of a soldier at the parliament complex, a 48- foot Buddha statue  at the Waturuwila, a  56- feet high Buddha statue at the Udabaddawa Temple, and another Buddha statue at the Ambadagalla Temple. Stone steps and pots and statue over 100 feet in height are also among his creations.

Apart from these, there is a big demand for granite creations of household goods like, benches, chairs, and tables. Though most people think that engraved stone pillars are high priced,  no-one will believe that a stone pillar costs less than a similar sized wooden pillar made in Moratuwa.

While there is a large demand for our granite productions from various parts of the island, we have supplied Buddha statues and local granite to Melbourne in Australia, Los Angeles in America and many temples in England where our creations are appreciated and valued.
