Wild elephant rescued from toilet pit at Moragoda

 A wild elephant which had fallen into a toilet pit in a home garden at Moragoda in Huruluwewa was rescued and released into the Huruluwewa forest reserve by a team of wildlife officers from Ritigala.  

Officials said the jumbo was about 15 years old and that it had fallen into the toilet pit when it roamed into the village in the early hours of last morning.   

Officials of Moragoda and Ritigala Wildlife offices and the Moragoda police rescued the jumbo using a backhoe.   

Villalers flocked to the scene to watch the rescue operation and the release of the wild elephant into the forest reserve.
