Student killed in accident involving Board Director’s vehicle of an Int’l school in Kandy

The accident reportedly occurred within the school premises around 11.30 a.m. yesterday

A seven-year-old student of Lexicon International School in Kandy died after being run over by a vehicle belonging to a member of the school’s board, according to the Police.

The accident reportedly occurred around 11.30 a.m. yesterday(12) within the school premises.  

Police said two schoolchildren who were drinking water at the time were hit by the vehicle. One child died from injuries sustained in the incident, while the other injured student was admitted to the National Hospital Kandy for treatment.  

The owner of the vehicle, who is also a director of the school, claimed that the accident occurred after he had stopped the vehicle and stepped out of it.  

Police have arrested the driver of the vehicle in connection with the incident. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Kandy Magistrate’s Court today(13).
