Sri Lanka assures foreign tourists of safety and smooth travel despite seasonal rainfall

Sri Lanka has reaffirmed that the country remains safe and fully open for travel, despite seasonal rainfall affecting certain regions. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) emphasized that national agencies are closely monitoring the weather situation and coordinating safety measures across the island.

According to the announcement, major tourist destinations continue to operate normally, with hotels, transport services, and attractions functioning without disruption. Officials highlighted that the tourism sector is working in close partnership with local authorities to ensure the comfort, safety, and convenience of all visitors.  

Travelers are encouraged to follow official weather updates, which are released regularly to help plan journeys with confidence.  

Authorities also reminded tourists that the Sri Lanka Tourism Hotline (1912) is available 24/7 for any inquiries or assistance related to weather conditions. Support is provided in coordination with the Tourist Police, Disaster Management Centre, and other relevant agencies across the island.  

Reiterating the island’s readiness to welcome travellers, the statement noted that Sri Lanka continues to offer its signature experiences—from golden beaches and rich cultural heritage to vibrant wildlife and warm hospitality.
